Duck-potato

A tuberous and stoloniferous perennial herb found growing in shallow water in lakes, ponds, canals, ditches, streams and rivers, where it has usually originally been planted. It is apparently spreading in some rivers. Reproduction is by seed and vegetative spread. Lowland.

Canadian Arrowhead

A stoloniferous perennial herb formerly naturalised in the River Exe and still present in the Exeter Canal (both S. Devon). It has also been recorded from a pond near Camborne (W. Cornwall). Lowland.

Arrowhead

A perennial herb of shallow, still or slowly flowing, calcareous and eutrophic water. In major rivers it may be present only as submerged leaves, but in ditches, lakes, ponds and canals it often produces emergent leaves and flowers. It perennates as tubers produced on stolons in the leaf axils. Lowland.

Narrow-leaved Arrowhead

A stoloniferous perennial herb grown in gardens and naturalised in a single pond of shallow, acidic water on Shortheath Common (N. Hants.). Reproduction is by seed and vegetative spread. Lowland.
