Trends
The map in Perring & Sell (1968) was based on material seen by C. E. Hubbard or other reliable recorders. Since then F. filiformis has become more widely known, and this explains its apparent increase. There has, however, been much confusion between it and other taxa within with F. ovina species-complex (especially short-awned variants of F. ovina), and it is probably still over-recorded in some areas and overlooked in others.
